Not worth "the full wage"
Tory Lord Freud is facing calls to resign after he suggested that some disabled people were not worth "the full wage".

The welfare minister was overheard at Tory conference discussing plans to introduce a £2 minimum wage band just for disabled people.

Well well well, the nasty party show their true colours yet again, despicable.

Re: Not worth "the full wage"
“The minimum wage has helped many people with learning disabilities. But people who have severe learning disabilities are also employed, even though they may have a productivity rate of 30% of the average. An employer may say that they will pay someone £15 a week for doing 15 hours work – and generally everyone is happy with this. The person with learning disabilities isn’t excluded from a working environment, and gets to go on works dos and generally join in with the team. And it’s good for the rest of the team too. Unfortunately, if employers have to pay the minimum wage, they may have to let these valuable members of their staff go.”

Should the above be condemned gaunt?

Miliband made a joke about the bacon sandwich.

I notice you have no actual response to points raised to you gaunt except to scream "evil Tory " and complain that people picked on Miliband over the bacon sandwich. You'll have to forgive me but I'm pretty sure you slagged off Cameron over his weight and Osborne over his voice before. Of course that was fine for you to do but don't dare poke fun at the Dear Leader.

If he'd have said that some able bodied weren't worth the full minimum wage nobody would have batted an eyelid!

Bit of discrimination here, we need to stick up for the able bodied a bit more!

Not nearly as grotesque as someone with his platform publicly voicing the 'idea'.

Re: Not worth "the full wage"
Slc labour had the same policy. They attacked us for closing down remploy factories!

" many countries recognise this and subsidise firms for employing workers with disabilities. Denmark has a permanent wage subsidy scheme for disabled people, and the United States, France, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Argentina and Slovakia all have lower minimum wages for disabled people, combined with disability benefits. (http://www.ilo.org/wcmsp5/groups/public/—ed_norm/—relconf/documents/meetingdocument/wcms_235287.pdf)

The UK already has something like this. Remploy is a government-owned firm that provides employment services to tens of thousands of disabled people who cannot find work elsewhere. The only difference between Remploy and Lord Freud’s suggestions are that, in the latter, it would be private firms doing the hiring. Indeed, Labour attacked the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition for shutting down Remploy’s factories in 2012.

There is another point here. Lord Freud is not a politician – he is a wonk whose job is to think outside the box. His comments were made off-the-cuff at a fringe event whose purpose was to openly discuss ideas for improving the welfare system. To use his remarks against him to make a small amount of political hay is grotesque."

Inheritance tax is easily avoided legally with just a tiny bit of planning.

Only an absolute cunt would see this as remotely reasonable.

Re: Not worth "the full wage"
The abolition of inheritance tax is long over due. It's outrageous that someone's personal estate is taxed upon their death.

It only raises around £3bn and that can easily be recouped by introducing tougher laws on tax avoidance for big industry.

Re: Not worth "the full wage"
Thought the limp wristed Cameron said that the tax cut comes from savings made on Welfare giving workers money in their own bin to spend not to the work shy which creates jobs

Inheritance tax has always been a cunt of a tax everyone in the South of England is fucked from working and owning a home then losing a big % when they die

Don't believe either of them Labour have to raise the tax or borrow money to keep their pledge

The current Tories don't have the bolloxs to make the real cuts needed

Whatever way you look at it we can't afford our current spending plans unless we raise more taxes

Serious question will you be happier to pay more tax to keep welfare benefits the same , increase contribution into the EU funds as the EU budget rises must years and increase the immigration into the UK and cut the deficit.

Seems Labour are promising all of that without tax increase , that Ed Balls must be one clever bloke learnt loads in he's 4 years out of a real job
